If Italy manages to be in the European and worldwide transport network of the future, we could have at least 1 point of GDP more. The world economy and trade are the biggest engine of world growth but they reward especially the territories that are in the global transport network.
With the Tav, the Mediterranean Corridor, the third passage and the Adriatic Corridor, our country, our harbors, starting from Val Susa they will be in the future network. Young people and those born today will have important business benefits. When we use the Aurelia we do not think that it was built 2000 years ago.
But on the transport network in addition to goods pass the passengers too and therefore tourism. In countries that have less suffered of logistics crises, transport was a productive factor for growth and jobs.
Italy, also thanks to the austerity policy implemented after the 12.11.2011, has not managed to close the competitiveness gap of its economy and its logistics and it has seen a decrease in its potential growth.
We have to quickly recover the lost time by speeding up public and private investment in ports, airports and rail networks. The Tav and the third passage and the other European corridors we will put inside the network of future transport, the only way to attract new investments from abroad.
The story of the Federal Express that invests 1.4 billion in Paris and only 15 million to Malpensa it should tell us something. It should swiftly release the ports and logistics Plan of Delrio and encourage private investment in our ports and our airports.
It’s necessary to promote Italy’s logistic growth also through the system of the sale “Franco destiny”, a theme that I see strangely forgotten. In the logistics plan, however, you must enter the chapter related to e-commerce, as I had asked to the President of the Council of Transport in 2012 unfortunately finding the denial of MIT, so that its great growth contributes to the growth of our logistics.
