The Expo is opening in three days and security measures are being reinforced in Milan. The great international manifestation is a target for the jihadist and anarchic terrorism. This is why 3,700 units were added to the security forces. The Minister of the Interior Angelino Alfano explained it after the meeting for Expo security, which took place yesterday in Milan. “The Expo is opening in ten days and we came here to say it is a great security event,” said Alfano.
The Minister explained that the anti-terrorism decree reinforced the power of the prefect, the commissioner and the officers to prevent infiltration; concerning streaming of information, they created a system to prevent anyone from ruining May 1st. Alfano stressed on prevention, which is essential to avoid criminal infiltrations and to let “the Expo be a great event”.
“After what happened in Paris, Italy is on the alert and is evaluating every sensitive target, especially in Milan” explained Alfano. A Joint Committee led by the attorney is going to work 24/7 to prevent emergencies and reinforce airports. “We have done everything we could to ensure a great event in a calm and safe environment,” said the Minister of Interior recalling “79 prohibitions were made to 54 enterprises, 7 registrations to the White List were denied, 109 times authorities controlled construction sites, 1,457 transportation means, 3,000 people and 406 enterprises were controlled.
