She was arrested by the carabinieri in Riccione, a nurse employed by the National Health Service who was accused of taking advantage of a disabled person while the son of the woman, aged 24 had been reported out on bail for money laundering. The two have been accused of having stolen 60 thousand Euros from a 54 year old disbled person. In realty, the story began in 2001 when the nurse from NHS was entrusted with the task of atteding a woman affected by serious pschiatirc problems, who still lived with her elderly mother.
In 2011 the mother of the woman died and the relations of the 54 year old agree to sell the house. She was given 60 thousand Euros deposited on a Post Office account, and she was entrusted to the care of the NHS facility in one of their flats. The nurse continued to visit the woman and in one of the meetings, the woman confessed of having inherited a large sum of money.
With th excuse of needing money urgently to pay for the restoration of her house, and that the NHS prohibts its employees to accept money from patients, the nurse asked her to lend her the money, begging her not to leave any track on the transactions. In the periods between December in 2011 and summer of 2013, the nurse duly accompanied the disabled woman to the P.O. to withdraw the su of money till only a few cents had been left. At this point, the desperate victim without any money left, confided with a social assistant because she did not want to turn to the police.
Fortunatly enough, the social assistant, on agreement with the managers of the NHS facility, manage to convince the woman to report the episode to the police. Investigations have enabled the policemen to reconstruct all the transactions that had been carried out on the PO account. According to what has emerged, the nurse –with the money she had stolen from the disbled person-had carried out restoration work on a flat and part of th money . about 11 thousand Euros , she had deposited on the son’s account, who in turn is now accused of money laundering – while the nurse is already under house arrest.
