Pope Francis has received in audience, in the halls of the Apostolic Palace, in the Vatican, the Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa, Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi. After the meeting, the prime minister has met with the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Mons. Antoine Camilleri, Under-secretary for the Relations with States.
“During the cordial conversations – according to a note of the Vatican Press Office – they have focused on some aspects of the social and economic life of the country, as well as on the appreciated contribution of the Catholic Church to different areas of Samoan society, especially to the educational sector. During the same conversation, there was also an exchange of opinions on the international and regional situations, with special reference to the climate change conference in Paris and the environmental problems faced by some Pacific island States”.
