A hail of bullets struck a group of tourists who were visiting the Fortress of Naryn-Kala in Dagestan, a site protected by UNESCO. At the moment, the balance of the attack counts one dead and at least 10 wounded. The nationality of the tourists is unknown. Also the matrix of the attack is still unknown because the gunmen fled immediately afterwards.
According to investigators, about 20 people had gathered on the observation platform of the fortress when, yesterday evening at 11.30 p.m., “unknown gunmen fired at them from a nearby pinewood”. At the end of the attack, 11 people were taken to the hospital with different degrees of urgency. One of them died. The police is working on the investigation and has found on the place of the attack 67 different calibers. The responsible of the region considers that the attack was carried out by “the militants of an armed group who take revenge on the nightspots because they celebrate the New Year’s Eve”.
