In a press release it speaks of “temporary precautionary measure.” John Kerry ,secretary of State from New Zealand said:”We will not be intimidated. We strive for stability, peace and tolerance in Afghanistan”.
Saturday morning an explosion occurred shortly after 5:30 in the largest US base in Afghanistan, at Bagram (north of Kabul) had caused the death of four people, all Americans: two military and two security personnel contractors. The suicide bombing was later claimed by the Taliban. This was announced by Pentagon chief, Ashton Carter, who also pointed out that there are at least 17 wounded 16 Americans and a Polish military. Two days earlier, a Taliban attack against the German consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif (north of the country) had caused six dead and a hundred injured.
“Resolute Support” (Rs) is the name of the military operation that NATO is conducting in Afghanistan from 1 January 2015, after supporting the Kabul government the end of the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) in the war against the Taliban and al -Qaida Afghan territory. Differently from ISAF, the operation currently under the military of “Resolute Support” will not be involved in combat operations, but logistical support for the fight against Islamic terrorism.
