how it was born
” Jungle ” is the refugee camp in the outskirts of Calais and it has been wanted by the mayor Natacha Bouchart. In this way they wanted concentrate all migrants in a specific land, till then unused and far enough away from the town and tourist center. Unused for two reasons: it is an ecological interest, and fauna type1 (ZNIEFF), that should be a protected area, untouchable; at the same time the Jungle is located in a Seveso zone, considered dangerous for the presence of two highly toxic and hazardous industries such as the Interor and the Synthexim.
