Among the people who went missing in Nice, there are also two Italian citizens. It is a couple from Voghera, Angelo D’Agostino and Gianna Muset. Yesterday night, they were on the Promenade des Anglais, the city street that faces the French Riviera, where the attack occurred during the celebrations of July 14.

The couple’s daughter-in-law was the one to raise the alarm. She told Ansa that she could not get in touch with her relatives since 9:55 p.m. She spread a message via Twitter, with the description of D’Agostino, specifying that “the man is about 1.70 high, 70 kg, white hair, jeans and a blue T-shirt”.

After the attack, the Italian foreign ministry has immediately activated its Crisis Unit, working closely with the Consulate and Embassy in Paris, as well as with the local authorities, and following closely the evolution of the events.

Meanwhile, many heads of state and politicians expressed their closeness with the victims’ families and strongly condemned the attack. As reported by Father Federico Lombardi, Pope Francis expressed his solidarity with the victims and all the French people and condemned “in the strongest terms all manifestations of murderous folly, hatred, terrorism, and every kind of attack against peace.”
