Click to pray: this is the name of the digital platform to pray according to the Holy Father’s monthly intentions. The initiative has been developed by the Apostleship of Prayer, the Pope’s worldwide prayer network entrusted to the Jesuits prayer, and it will be presented on Vatican Radio on the occasion of the event called “24 Hours for the Lord”, which will be held in Rome on 4 and 5 March.
This is not a novelty: the digital platform exists for some time now, but it was destined to the young people from the Apostleship of Prayer in Portugal. Considering the thousands of participants and the growing success, it was decided to turn it into an international App, to honor the special prayer on the occasion of the Jubilee of Mercy.
Father Frédéric Fornos, International Director of the Apostleship of prayer, points out that this is not only a mobile phone app, but also a social media, blog, and newsletter application. Click to Pray is now available in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English, and soon it will be available also in Italian.
It is a way to help the faithful to pray. Its main concept is that “prayer is universal and evangelizing”, Father Fornos emphasizes. One will be able to pray in three different moments of the day; people will receive a notification that will remind them about the time and their intentions, through a biblical quote or an exercise for their life, and one will be able to write his/her own intention.
The Pope, who never misses an opportunity to invite the faithful to prayer in communion with him, said he was pleased with this initiative, especially during the Jubilee Year. The Pontiff had actually said during the World Communications Day that “communicating means creating” bridges. This platform moves in this direction, to help everyone to pray, even amidst the many commitments of the day, creating a global community connected to the Pope.
