Giulio Pollicardo and Filippo Calcagno, the other two Italians abducted by Isis who survived the blitz in Sabratha, were released. The news has been reported in the online edition of La Stampa that triggered the checks of the foreign ministry. Soon after, Pollicardo’s visibly moved son confirmed it on his way home: “It’s over! It’s over!” His wife Emma Orellana said she talked to him on the phone.
The two former hostages have also written a message, sent to Corsera and published by the daily, together with a picture of them. “I am Gino Pollicardo and with my colleague Filippo Calcagno today on March 5, 2016 we are free and we are in good health, but psychologically devastated – it reads -. We need to urgently get back to Italy.”
