There may be Isis terrorists hiding among the migrants who arrive to Lampedusa, according to the French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, who said he is very concerned with the situation in Libya. The North African country has been in deep political crisis after Tobruk’s refuse to give confidence to Serraj government. This is a favorable situation for the plans of the Caliphate, which turned Libya into its new headquarters, after the severe defeats in Syria and Iraq.
“They are there, on nearly 300 kilometers of coastline, and they are expanding – Le Drian said -. They are 350 kilometers away from Lampedusa. When good weather arrives in the Mediterranean area, fighters may hide among migrants. It is a very serious risk”.
Thus, the minister repeated that we need to find an urgent political solution to the Libyan crisis, so as to allow the international community to support the future government of national unity militarily and prevent the Islamic state from destabilizing the country.
“We are aware of the fact that we risk to switch from a conflict in Syria and Iraq, where we finally obtain good results, to a new conflict in Libya,” the minister concluded. “The only way to avoid a devastating crisis is helping secure Libya’s political unity, in order to have a credible and tangible partner” – he stressed.
