The selection of the sacred ministers must be done through “careful selection”. This is what the Pope stated in the message issued in view of the World Day of prayer for vocations, scheduled on April 17 next year. “Vocation is born in the Church, grows in the Church and is supported by the Church”, the Pontiff observed.
“The Church’s maternity is expressed through persevering prayer for vocations and with educative and supportive action for those who perceive God’s call. Among pastoral workers – he recalled – the priests have special relevance. They accompany those who are in search of their vocation, as well as those who have already offered their lives to the service of God and of the community” which “becomes the home and the family where vocation is born”.
In fact, Francis stressed, “the vocational journey is made together with brothers and sisters the Lord gives us: “It is a con-vocation”. The ecclesiastic dynamism of the call is the antidote to indifference and individualism. It establishes communion in which indifference is defeated by love”.
