Pain and bewilderment are the first feelings caused by this massacre without precedent. The simultaneous attacks during a night of terror in Paris will determine the sentiment of intolerance and rejection towards those who come from countries of terrorism. A yell that became madness, “Allah is great!” as innocent people were being killed, has shown us the absolute failure of the French intelligence and that of Europe as whole to prevent terrorist attacks. Unfortunately we must live with this terrible reality: the war triggered by terrorism concerns all western countries now. Italy is targeted by those unscrupulous criminals as well and this is the reason why our institutions, political institutions in the first place, instead of arguing and quarrelling, should be more committed and invest as much as possible to ensure safety to its citizens.
This is now a top priority people feel in need of. In front of these massacres any other individual or social problem must bow and stop in silence and prayer for those who fell victims of a corrupt and filthy system in which no one’s hands are clean. Rulers’ truth is missing, people who besides mourning their children do not know with determination how to work to protect their country and especially do are not able to work with determination to rebuild peace, which is currently so much threatened.
Advancing terrorism is an omen of other catastrophes we want to avoid. Now it is time for mourning, but remember that in Italy the Jubilee is around the corner, and that event will bring together thousands of people. The “holy fight” should consist in efforts to dialog with those countries, from Libya to Egypt, which had been abandoned and became haunts of the most bloody fundamentalism. Our leaders must take care of this, so we do not find ourselves shocked and dismayed by new massacres.
