The investigations of the Vatican Gendarmerie on new Vatileaks seem to include Corrado Lanino, husband ,fo Francesca Chaouqui recently arrested because of the leak. Before the scandal, the man was working for the Santa Lucia Foundation in Rome, a body depending on the Holy See, as the highest, third-level official of Vatican communications security system, known as “Archangel Gabriel”. But the system which was hacked was the second one, “Archangel Raphael”, whereas the highest level (which has not been touched) is “Archangel Michael”. Lanino’s position will be decided by the investigators, but he has not been entered yet in the register of crime reports, as confirmed Father Federico Lombardi. “There are no other suspects” confirmed the spokesman of the Holy See.

Meanwhile Chaouqui, interviewed by La Repubblica, has pointed the finger at Msgr. Balda, arrested for the scandal. “He was the one who did those records to Pope Bergoglio, I did not know anything” and it was him who “got me involved – she said – he even made the members of COSEA, the Board of auditing for the accounts of dicasteries of the Holy See, listen to an audio-record. I was among the members, called by Bergoglio’s staff. Balda was the secretary of the commission. Everyone was stunned, but that was the end of the story. “The woman confirmed her friendship with Balda but stressed that “last spring it became troubled and it is not a secret that he hoped to get the position of auditor general of the Vatican, for which was chosen Libero Milone instead. When he was named, he started a war against him. Probably this is what pushed him to deliver the papers to the journalists. But I have nothing to do with those documents; I had no places to take in the Vatican”.
