For years now, the country of the rising sun has accustomed to oddities of all kinds, especially in the business of the restaurants. From serving frogs that are still we live to restaurants of all kinds, where customers can be served by giant monsters, nurses, or have lunch with penguins. This summer, they overdid even themselves. In Japan’s was opened the first bar/hotel designed specifically for – and managed by, according to the website – stuffed animals.
At the modest cost of 35 €, customers can send their puppets to Yarikawan cafe, where the animals will be revered and served berry smoothies, rice omelette with their name on written with ketchup – the Omurice, a typical Japanese dish -, pancakes and even champagne. In addition to food (which must be real), stuffed animals can also stay overnight in this structure. Card games and ghost stories included.
At the end of the experience the puppets are given back to their owners, along with a photo album of the event and small souvenirs like sugar cubes or bar coasters. According to the owners, in Japan the vast majority of women (about 85%) owns, loves and coddles at least one stuffed animal and what better way to do it than to offer it a paid holiday?
