Francois Holland congratulated with Alexis Tsipras on his victory in the Greek elections. He said also that he considers this to be “an important message for the European lef-wing”. Athens, according to the French president, “will have a period of stability with a solid majority”, added Hollande during a phone call with Tsipras after the announcement of the election results and said he would be in Athens “in the following weeks.”
The first ones to have congratulated with Tsipras were the leaders of Podemos. “Greeks have stated clearly whom they want as their prime minister”, twitted the general secretary of the party of the extreme left, Pablo Iglesias, congratulating with his “friend” Tsipras. After the announcement of his victory, the leader of Syriza, who will have to find an ally for the government coalition now, talked on the phone with the president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and the Austrian chancellor Werner Faymann.
