It is official, Whitney Houston will perform “live” again in 2016. It has been announced these days by the sister-in-law of the singer, Pat Huston. Four years after the disappearance of “The Voice”, the artist will get back on stage thanks to technology. The tour will use holograms to bring Whitney back to life and interpret her greatest hits again.
Holographic performances are not new in the world of music. Introduced in Japan to make “real” the virtual popstar Hatsune Miku, they were used also in the west for the concerts of 2pac in 2012 and Michael Jackson at the Billboard Awards in 2014. However, this is the first time they are going to be used for a massive event such as a world tour.
“The opportunity to share again with the public what Whitney gave us is something I had been hoping for a long time – has commented the president of the foundation Whitney Houston, Pat Huston – I have always dreamed of reviving her best performances.” An ambitious operation which has not gained much success among the fans of the singer, to whom this idea seems to be a mere strategy to make profit out of her death.
