Thousands of pilgrims arrived to Saint Peter’s square for the Audience of Pope Francis. The latter has indicated again the family as the privileged place where to learn love: “Knowledge of the affections, that cannot be neither sold nor bought, is the best gift of the spirit of a family. When the Gospel enters a family, explains the Holy Father, upon its members is bestowed a grace capable of regenerating relationships and of bearing witness to ”God’s deeds in History”.
This is why the Pontiff exhorts the Church. “We need to confer again a leading role to the family. A smile put on the face of a desperate child who was abandoned and who begins to live anew explains God’s actions in the world better than a thousand theological treaties; and one man or one woman able to risk and to sacrifice themselves for somebody else’s child and not only for their own explain us things about love that cannot be understood even by the scientists. The actions of the heart talk louder than words.
At the end of his speech, Bergoglio launched an appeal on the occasion of the celebration of the end of the Second World War that is recalled those days in the Far East. ”I renew my fervid prayer to our Lord, through the intercession of Virgin Mary, for the world not to experience anymore the horrors and the terrible sufferance of such tragedies.
This, stressed Francis, is also the eternal desire of the peoples, especially of those that are victims of bloody wars nowadays. War never again! This is the scream that rises from our hearts and the hearts of all good women and men towards the Prince of peace.
To conclude, the Holy Father has expressed today his solidarity and support to the ”Smith Bits Saline” workers present at the General Audience and accompanied by the Volterra bishop, Monsignor Albero Silvani. I hope – he has said – that the difficult work circumstance will find a fair solution soon, respectful of the rights of everyone, so as to light again hope in the families and in the hearts of the young people.
