It opens on 5 September in Milan, the tenth national day for the protection of creation, housed in the Conference Center Expo2015. This year’s theme is “Renewing the humanity to protect creation”. The Italian Episcopal Conference, chooses each year a topic of discussion, addressing a specific message and contributing to the discussions for the deepening and celebrations.
The initiative, created to reaffirm the importance of environmentalism even in the Christian context, is today one of the most popular in the Italian context, involving as well as religious associations, even civil authorities, police and environmental secular organizations. Ecology is today the increasingly heard and inextricably theme linked with the issues of justice and peace and is one of the topic where the different Christian denominations are agreed.
The day of this year will be opened by the intervention of His Excellency Bishop Filippo Santoro Archbishop of Taranto and CEI president of the Episcopal Commission for Social Problems and Work, Justice and Peace and the Minister of the Environment, Protection of Natural Resources and sea Gian Luca Galletti. They will then turn the microphone Professor Morandini foundation Lanza and Pierluigi Malavasi, professor at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, to be followed by the testimony of Brother Roberto Lanzi of the monastic community of Siloam. To end the day will be Monsignor Fabiano Longoni, director of CEI for social problems and work.
