ASHLEY MADISON CASE. 3 SUICIDES AFTER A HACKER ATTACK ON THE DATING SITE A list with the names of all those who have had an affair via the website, was spread after a hacker attack

To kill oneself because of having ended up on the list of “traitors”: three people who were registered on the website for adulterous relations Ashley Madison have committed suicide because of the hacker attack that has exposed to public pillorying millions of names. This is the hypothesis of the spokesman of the Tronto police, in Canada, who stresses that investigations are still carried on in order to confirm the connection between the suicides and the spread of their personal details online, such as their sexual preferences or even data about their credit cards.

The risk that the situation could have led to a tragedy had been foretold last week by the analyst Brian Krebs: “There is a real risk that people overreact – he had explained – I would not be surprised if people killed themselves because of all this”. In the meanwhile, Avid Life Media, the Canadian company that manages the website whose slogan is “Life is short, have an affair” has offered a 500 thousand dollars reward to whoever will be able to provide information to trace those responsible for the attack that has put at risk the privacy of more than 30 million users.

Two Canadian law firms have launched a class action worth 578 million dollars against the website. The cause against Avid Life Media seems to  have been initiated on behalf of all the Canadian citizens involved. “I am outraged by the fact that has failed to protect its customers’ details” said the lawyer Ted Charney who presented the process in the court last Thursday.”In many cases, users have paid extra money to have their data removed – he added – only to find out that information was not removed and has been even exposed to the action of the pirates on the Internet”. And after the TV star, the Baptist Josh Duggar (Mr. Family Day because apparently a good husband) whose name ended up on the list of customers spread by the hackers, the last one, in terms of time, to apologize publicly to the family has been Florida’s prosecutor, Jeffrey Ashton. On his online profile he has written that “he sought someone with fantasies, with whom to put them into practice’. But he has assured that he has never betrayed his wife, but was merely satisfying his curiosity.
