The act will not be appreciated by the animalists and those who campaign against pet abandonment. But neither by normal people. She killed her god Beau, by wrapping duct tape around its mouth before strangling it with lead. Then she buried it in a grave in her back garden in Tyldesley, a small town of Great Manchester county. The cruelty caused Hayley Cowan, 22 years old, four months of jail.
The case came to light after one of Cowan’s friend turned detective for being witness, months ago, of a violence towards the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, kicked in the face by its owner. In that occasion, last October, Beau was entrust to friend’s care. Shortly after the dog was handed back to the owner with the promise of taking care of it and not to hurt it. The morning after, Hayley called her friend to tell her that Beau escaped. A lie propped up for three weeks, when the 22 years old admitted to killing it and buried in the garden. The court condemned her to 4 months of jail, it also established that she will never be able to have a pet and she’s condemned to pay to Rspca – Royal society for the prevention of cruelty to animals – 500 pounds for court costs.
According the “Manchester Evening New”, the detective involved, Vicki McDonald hopes that “the sentence will highlight the seriousness of the case and give Cowan the opportunity to reflect upon her actions against a defenseless dog”.
