Two English parents were sentenced and imprisoned for having brought up their 5 children, all minors, in inhuman sanitary and nutrition conditions. The couple, Scott Higgins, 42 years old, and Lisa Doxey, 39, resident in Lincolnshire (central county in the North Sea), spent money to buy alcohol and drugs instead of satisfying children’s basic needs such as food, toys and clothes.
The English police came to the apartment on April 21, last year, after the warning of a neighbor, worried about the minors. Policemen found the apartment full of garbage, the floor covered with rubbish and the walls dirty with excrement. Besides, there were insects and toxic molds in the bathroom. The mattresses of the children, four girls and a boy, respectively 15, 12, 6, 4 and 2-years-old, were infested by lice.
Children’s life details emerged in all their cruelty during their parents’ trial: “there was no food at home, declared the public prosecutor that was working on the case, the house was so disgusting, that even animals would not have lived there. Children were completely ignored, but especially exposed to profound health damage due to hygienic conditions”. “It was a terrible case of abandonment, declared the head of the local police. Fortunately, children are now away from that environment and they are getting on with their lives.
