Certainly it was not a quiet trip for the passengers of a flight to New York who ended up sitting next to a drunk man who kept screaming and squalling all the time. In order to calm down the situation they decided to hush the drunk man and to tie him to the seat with sellotape. Andy Ellwood, the manager, took a picture of the man and right he posted it on Twitter, the picture went viral.
Gudmundur Karl Arthorsson, 46 years old, was going to the Caribbean Islands to meet his girlfriend. During the trip on an Icelandair airplane he annoyed his fellow-passengers, spitting and screaming that the airplane was crashing. The decision to immobilize him and hush him with sellotape was taken by the crew and the passengers unanimously.
Once in New York, the man was arrested by the police and escorted to the hospital. He was dismissed the day after in order to be then transferred to another hospital in Jamaica. Arthorsson’s relatives declared they were shocked by his behaviour and claimed he had never been a violent person, nor was it his nature to behave this way.
