On the day dedicated to St. Benedict, who rebuilt a civilization from the ruins of the Roman Empire, the project “Italia Più” has started – a training project on democracy, solidarity and responsibility.
“Benedict – explained one of the project creators, Raffaele Bonanni, former secretary of the CISL – along with his brothers from the community and with the collective commitment (where each was important and through his own commitment made another become important as well) rebuilt the foundations of civilization and culture thanks to Christian spirit. Their words fertilized a reality that was crush, disoriented, looking for a new identity. I think that nowadays we’re experiencing a very similar situation. The structures of democratic power are greatly compromised by those of finance; it acts globally, while democracy acts locally and without a unifying spirit.
“Today – Bonanni added – the civilization of information and the digital communication have changed the individual’s way of thinking and acting. Safeties built so patiently, our welfare and the certainties acquired through decades of evolution of our communities are strongly encouraged to prepare a major project with the aim of turning into reality in contemporary society the principles of the past.
I mean, so many friends gathered together to create an association that focuses on the need for participation, on the urge to work together, getting involved in the social and democratic life; acquiring the right tools to do so, both cultural and informatic, referring to the principles of the social doctrine of the Church.
We ask citizens, workers, friends from associations culturally more akin to this way of thinking to unite and come together, to find places and moments of collaboration; humbly we ask all those who identify themselves with the founding ten points of “Italia Più” to join online on the website www.italiapiu.eu getting to the page of acceptances.
Joining the association – which will operate through online training, seminars, conferences, constant communication to its members – is a way to contribute to the rebirth of our country, having an active role in this desert around us.
We want real people – Bonanni concluded – who believe in the project; we are neither looking for charismatic nor for populist people, nor for saviors of the world, but for a multitude of people that together can change their history, their environment, their community by contributing to the overall change”.
So here they are: the ten fundamental points of “Italia Più”
COMMUNITIES, PARTICIPATION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Rejecting the propaganda and practice that see in the parties and in the intermediate bodies of the company “only” barriers to the ability to decide. No to those who with legislative alchemy aims to empty the free vote of its fundamental value in order to take everything with little support.
DEMOCRACY, GROWTH AND SOLIDARITY
Countering the oligarchic tendencies that want the affirmation of a reduced or controlled democracy, a less intense democracy.
EUROPE AND FREEDOM
We must reject and replace an establishment that between the oligarchic complicity with its European counterparts and the duty to represent the demands of the Italian society chooses, systematically, the first.
FAMILY AND FUTURE
We must stop the decline of the meaning and role of the core asset of our society – family. Stop to the sterile ideological contrasts. Stop to the nihilistic drifts cloaked by modernism.
WORK AND BUSINESS
Participation is the main way to restart the employment and to dignify work.
SCHOOL AND WORK
A school for work, for legality, for participation: we must free the formation from the closed circuits that are not opened to the companies and the future.
TAXES AND GROWTH
Our North Star: low taxes are the economy’s turbo. So what is to be taxed are expenditures, not the people, workers, entrepreneurs, families: ten taxes less per year.
EXPENDITURE AND PENALTY
We must cut the expenditure generated by the political and business lobbies. With strength, courage, and without looking at anyone.
HOUSE AND LAND
Save the house from the tax oppression and support the recovery of the good building: the two conditions for a new circle of trust by the Italian people.
PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND DAILY LIFE
A ‘hostile’ government and ‘smashed’ local governments have largely favored the construction of an insurmountable wall between businesses, citizens and families, on the one hand, and bureaucracy on the other.
