One dead and several wounded. That’s the outcome of a suspect Islamist attack, which occurred in an industrial gas factory in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, near Lyon, France. Near the area where the attack occurred a decapitated body was found, a local entrepreneur. The victim’s head, covered with Arabic “inscriptions”, was abandoned “at dozens of meters away from the body.” French security forces searched the apartment of Yassin Sali, 35, the suspected attacker. According to local press, the man had moved six months ago, with his wife and three children to the outskirts of Saint-Priest. The wife cannot come to terms with what happened. Reached by telephone by the broadcaster Europe1, the woman, visibly shaken, said she knew nothing of the attack. “I do not know what happened, was he arrested?” She asked, telling that Yassin, who works as a delivery boy, left home at 7 am to go to work as usual. “They say he is a terrorist, but he is not. I know my husband … We have a normal family life, he goes to work and then comes back every day. Even last night he was normal … “. The reporter asked if Yassin is religious, she answered “yes, we are Muslims” and the reporter insisted: “Truly observant?” “No, we are normal, we observe the Ramadan …”. A second person was arrested.
The factory where the explosion took place is the Air Products located in des Arrivaux avenue, in the southeast of France. The Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, and also Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius went on the spot.
French President, Francois Hollande, has left the summit of the European Council and is returning to Paris. “A terror investigation has been launched – he announced – the interior minister immediately went to the site of the attack with the Prosecutor, and the person suspected of committing the attack has already been identified and arrested. The area has been isolated immediately and all the security measures to prevent further tragedies and more harmful actions have been taken”. After confirming the arrest of a suspect, Hollande assured that the state will do what “the French expect: we will eradicate the groups responsible for these actions. The only response is action, prevention and deterrence, and not emotion. We must not give way to fear”.
