The United States recorded in just one week a double blow to the top of the organization of al Qaeda. After the death of the leader Mokhtar Belmokhtar that took place in Libya during the bombing by the American coalition, Yemen Nasser al Wahayshi, defined the number two and “crown prince” of Sheikh Ayman al Zawahri, Osama bin Laden’s successor, seems to have been killen. The extremist group has confirmed the news.
At the moment, however, as in the case of Belmokhtar, the Pentagon has not said anything yet. Some sources even deny that US forces have carried out raids in the Arab country. But it is sure that investigations are underway to attest the death of the leader of al Qaeda. Two security officials in Sana’a reported the news, explaining to CNN that the attack was carried out by a drone in the region of Hasdramount. On Twitter, activists of AQAP talk about the “martyrdom” of al-Wahayshi announcing that the membership organization has already elected a new military commander: Qasm al-Rimi.
The Crown Prince of Al Zawahri was well known for having reiterated in a video, that included images of September 11, his “fight against America carrying the cross”. The video ended with a message addressed to a hundred of followers who were encouraged to attack the United States.
