Persecution of Nigerian Christian is still ongoing, believers are tortured and killed and persecuted in every terrible and possible way men know. Boko Haram – the local Caliphate – is leading the attack against this religious minority. Recently, BH has got in close contact with ISIS to help it reach Libya. Since 2009, in the north of the country there have been violent acts causing an uncountable number of victims killed and injured. The Christian communities of the Nigerian Middle Belt are the most attacked. The Middle Belt is a place where cultures, beliefs and ethnic groups meet and this makes it the target of the fundamentalists who want to eliminate every difference creating one flag and religion. Stats are incredible: 3k people killed in 4 years, this slaughter was ignored and underestimated on purpose by the Wester world. BH is fueld by faithfulness to Islam, a faithfulness that is not in the Koran, a faithfulness willing to kill.
Let us not forget villages robbed in order to enlist militants and buy more and more powerful weapons to destroy and kill. Nevertheless, BH is not the only group hunting Christians down in this beautiful and yet cursed land. There are different groups wandering freely around the Middle Belt (maning Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Plateau, South of Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, South of Katuna, Fct, Tafawa Belewa, Bogoro, Bauchi and South of Gombe, and two local areas of Tafawa Belewa and Bogoto), they kill merciless. Among theme there are the Hausa-Fulani, Muslim stockmen and farmer who are disclosing a real plan to conquer the lands of the Christian minorities.
Local fundamentalists support these groups. The attacks are led by Hausa-Fulani and are against the people and their houses, farms, shops and animals, they are fully armed and work against the “unfaithful ones”. Nigerian officers are not able to prevent or stop them. This is a slap to every kind of civilization.
The main aim of the fundamentalism is to spread the dar-al-islam, the ‘house of Islam’, and in order to do it, they must destroy the dar-al-harb, the ‘house crowded with unfaithful peopleì. In order to meet their goal the jihad is needed, ‘the battle against the invisible enemy, the devil and themselves’. The ‘holy war’ justifies rapes and slaughters to spread Islam. . however, there are also other techniques, laws, infiltration in institutions and economic migration. Every strategy aims to conquering the Middle Belt. This is not only for economic reasons. The strategies, the more and more powerful weapons and the continuous attack to Christian minorities are starting to raise the suspect that Hausa-Fulani acts, just like Boko Haram, in a wider plan to ethnic cleaning.
Nevertheless, persecutions do not involve only Africa and Middle East. Moving to the eastern part of the world, the situation does not change. According to the Persecution Report, in 2014, five Christians were killed by Hindu radicals, with them there were 300 priests, pastors and leaders of the communities who were assaulted, beaten and wounded. Amore then 2,000 women and children were abused. This list is not complete, but it explains a phenomenon happening now in some regions of the country: Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Paradeshm, Karnataka, Kerala e Orissa and more. Those responsible for the attack are members of the “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh”
(National Volunteers Group) that grew stronger after the victory of the nationalists of Narendra Modi during the elections.
Let us not forget the persecution happening every day in the Eastern world, as in North Korea and China. Hundreds of men are arrested, deported, imprisoned and killed because of religious reasons that it is not afraid of proclaiming the ‘Good news’ and ‘liberation’ in front of the anger of the world.
