He was on death row since 1984, after being convicted of killing four men in 1983. Lester Bower Junior was put to death with a lethal injection during the night in Texas.
“Much has been written about this case, not all of it has been the truth”. According to some witnesses present during the execution, these were Bower’s last words, said before being killed in only 6 minutes by the lethal injection.
The man always maintained his innocence and had appealed to the Supreme Court, but his last-day appeal was rejected just three hours before the execution. Bower’s execution had been scheduled seven times, all suspended, in some cases even at the last moment.
According to the prosecution, the man was guilty of having killed four men in a shooting occurred in a ranch in Dallas. The cause of the murder was the theft of a small plane that Bower had tried to buy from one of the victims.
