Ms. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, President of the Republic of Croatia, was received in private audience by Pope Francis at the Vatican Apostolic Palace, audience followed by the meeting with the Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, and with Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States.
According to the Vatican press office “ during the meeting, the good relations between the Vatican State and the Republic of Croatia were highlighted, relations that have been strengthened by the deals clinched between the countries. Moreover, topics of common interests were discussed, including the cooperation between the Church and the State for the common good of the Croatian society, especially the support of families and young people. Later in the meeting, the attention was turned to the social consequences of the global economic crisis, to the main challenges at regional level, with particular attention to the situation of Croatians living in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
During her stay in Rome, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović visited the Pontifical Croatian College of St. Jerome and the Pontifical University Antonianum, where she held a lecture on “Women in politics, challenges in a globalized world”.
