A firm and abrupt no. This was France’s response to giving shelter to migrants in every European country in order to help Italy, Greece and Malta, as the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, proposed.
Nevertheless, right after the EU Commission approved, France changed its mind. “France opened to giving shlter to those in need of protection. Today in the EU 5 States give shelter to 75% of people. This situation is unbearable”.
In Italy, 24k people from Syria and Eritrea arrived since April 15th. In total there are 40k migrants, 16k of them (40% of those asking for shelter) arrived in Greece.
According to Brussels, last year 170 migrants arrived in Italy and 54,000 in Greece; during the first months of 2015, 26,000 people arrived in Italy and 28,000 in Greece.
