From today to May 29th, Cardinal Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, will be on an official visit in Serbia. The most important meeting will be the one on May 28th with the Orthodox Patriarch Irinej and the international ecumenical symposium “One, holy, common and apostolic Church of Christ”, that will take place in the Great Hall of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade.

“Being able to hold this symposium – Stanislav Hocevar, archbishop of Belgrade, explained to SIR – has been a great gesture of good will on the part of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology” , that made itself available to the dialogue between the Catholic and the Orthodox Church, of which many exponents from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Slovenia will participate to the meeting. “In this scenario, – added the prelate – Cardinal Koch’s visit will strengthen the good relations we already have with the Serbian Orthodox Church”. In addition to the highest State authorities, Koch will also meet the Catholic bishops of Serbia and will visit the diocese of Subotica.
