The Idra Q nightmare comes to an end, the fishing boat was confiscated in March. The Italian boat left Banjul harbor and is now sailing to Dakar. Everyone is onboard except the chief engineer, Massimo Liberati, who is still in custody. He has a hearing tomorrow.
There are more than 20 people onboard, Captain Sandro De Simone di Silvi is among them – who spent two weeks in prison – and the boatswain, Vincenzino Mora – not involved in judiciary events. The odyssey of Idra Q started at the end of February because of irregularities in the nets. Gambian officers controlled and contested the dimensions of the slips through the net (68.8 mm instead of 70). The net was not used and the difference of about 1 mm should have been tolerated.
