At least 72 people died because of an enormous dire that burst in a factory in Venezuela City, near Manila, on the afternoon of May 13th. Besides those who died, there are tens of wounded and intoxicated, and local authorities announced that about ten people are missing.
300 people were working in the factory. Rescuers are at work now and fear that the death toll may rise because there is one entire floor that has not been controlled. The operation is proceeding slowly because of smoke and instability of the building.
According to the first reconstructions, the fire started a little after noon and it took firefighters all afternoon to put it out. Probably, the fire started because of an incident in the factory. There were workers using soldering iron near the main entrance, some sparks set fire to the chemical compounds that were left open. The fire increased within seconds although some employees tried to put it out with water and fire extinguishers.
