Gianluca Monni is the name of the 19 year old that yesterday, was hit in the chest by three gunshots in the centre of Orune, in the province of Nuoro. It was 7:30 in the morning when the student waiting for the bus that would take him to school, was approached by two men wearing masks shot him. After the ambush they fled by car. At the time of the murder, Gianluca was sitting not far from the bus shelter, and with him there were other classmates. They were the first witnesses to be heard by the agents, who are attempting to reconstruct the facts to trace the authors of the crime.
An unexplicable death, although according to many of the classmates, Monni had recently argued with his peers in defence of his girlfriend, said to have been hassled by bullies. The girl, a student of ‘Tecnico Agrario Bernardo Brau’ of Nuoro, that morning too, was waiting to catch the bus at another bus-stop close to where Gianluca had been shot. She immediately rushed off into the nearby bus-stop to rescue the boy, then petrified realised there was nothing more that could be done.
“I had got onto the bus at the first stop-said one of the school-goers-I was talking and joking with with my classmates, a few minutes later, on arrival at the next stop, we saw a sheet spread over someone lying on the ground. He in Form fifth B, and I in in Form fifth A, we’ve always been together since we were young”. These were the words of one of the victim’s friends and as reported by some teachers, was a a very nice person and excellent student and suche violence was incomprehensibe. The only ‘sore spot’ had been that he had wanted to protect his girlfriend. In classes the lessons have been suspended, and meetings will be held to reflect over what happened. The headmistress, Innocence Giannasi, has called a meeting of the class-representatives where a document should be drawn up. Meanwhile, in Sardinia it’s a huntdown for the murderers.
