FORMER CIA ADMITS: “ARAB SPRING OUR FAILURE” In his book Morell explains that the Cia had hoped of fighting against terrorism by instigating popular uprisings

An error of assessment on the part of Cia regarding to the Arab spring. To talk about it is Michael Morell, the former number two of the Agency, who explains in his book “The Great War against our time” of how the optimistic view of American Intelligence has completely been reversed. They had hoped to overcome terrorism by instigating a popular uprising, but since, the facts have testified the contrary, the Jihad is everywhere.

Morell grants to Washington Post, an exclusive review of his book: “Arab Springs became a winter”. Four years after protests in the square in Tunisia, al Qaida and affiliated, have conquered the territory and increased its forces in countries such as Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Some officials of the United States, have stated that, conflicts with the extremist groups will be difficult to eradicate and won’t come about in less than a decade’s time. Although this is a personal opinion, the hypothesis of Morell has value when considering its previous position within the Agency. The failure of the political forces as in the Arab spring were, however, evident, as is evident the increase in terrorist acts by extremists starting in 2011.
