Passionate from around the world: today it’s Star Wars Day, so very important for all the fans of the most famous cinematographic saga. This year, this event is more important than ever because in about 8 months (December 16th) the seventh episode of the saga is going to be released. Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The organization of the event started when Disney bought Lucas Art (Production Company founded by George Lucas who created both trilogies). On this day, there will be parades all around the world. Some events are supported by the LA multinational cooperation, fans and nerds organized other.
The day was chosen because of a phonetic pun: ‘May the Force Be with You’ and ‘May the Fourth Be with You’. The first time “May the fourth be with you” appeared was not thanks to Star Wars fans. On May 4th, 1979, Margaret Thatcher became the first woman to be the UK PM, her party wished her luck on The London Evening News writing: “May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie. Congratulations”. This sentence was also said in the UK Parliament.
In 2005, George Lucas was asked to say the famous sentence ‘May the Force be with you’ live on Channel N24. A German Interpreter translated “Mai sind wir bei Ihnen” (May the fourth we’ll be with you). TV Total noticed her mistake and broadcast it on May 18, 2005.
