The Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI)stands for social issues and work, justice and peace and it launched a message for May 1st, saying many people are unemployed, especially those living in the suburb of society, those are ones who “need more attention”. Surely, “without family there is no human dignity” and he underlined that too many young people lose their dignity at work.
“Idolatry of money is making us drown in reprobation and destruction”. The CEI continues saying the voice of occasional workers need to be cherished the same way “Saint Joseph did in his workshop in Nazareth”. Because within every temporary employee “Christ is suffering with them, the Son of men does not know where to lay his head”.
In addition, they invited evert Christian community a vigil of reflection and prayer during these hard times. The Church, as it is “expert in humanity”, need to take the matter in its hand and multiply the bread so that the whole planet may be nourished”. In the message, they underlined that Christian people should be like Simon of Cyrene and “take crosses of others in the path of life”.
