The government of Berlin was aware of the risk for flights flying over the east area of Ukraine. Investigators are still trying to understand who tear down the Boing 777 with 298 people on board.
Some days before the tragedy, the German Minister of Foreign Affairs denounced the ‘worrying’ situation of the east of Ukraine, since a military aircraft was shot in the same area. The MH17 was not the only one to pass in that area, three Lufthansa aircrafts passed there, one of there just 20 minutes before the other. Suddeutsche Zeitung reported this, “Usually, flights are warned if there is some security issues. Nevertheless, the flight was warned after the information arrived to the security”.
