Seven Pakistani brothers, aged 3 to 14, died as their house – efficiency apartment – was razed by a truck. It happened in Punjab, in the east area of Pakistan near the borders of India. The Rizwans were sleeping when a truck carrying vegetables went off track and crashed on the house made of mud and stones. The couple and two of their 2 and 3-year-old children survived, but they are hospitalized. The driver and his assistants were not badly injured and the police is leading further investigations.
Car crashes in Pakistan are very frequent because roads are in disarray and drivers are not careful. One of the most serious car crash happened in January; a bus carrying about 50 passengers (women and children among them) burst into flames after it crashed into a truck carrying fuel and causing 57 to die. According to statistics, about 4,500 people die in car crashes in Pakistan, which makes it the country with the highest mortality rate.
