The Cattolica University of Milan is celebrating Giovanni Battista Montini with a seminar: “I give you the lamp of my faith. Paul VI: Church, culture and University”. Many associations cooperated to organize this event (Fuci, the Pastoral Center of the Athenaeum, Meic, Azione Cattolica Ambrosiana and the Archdioceses of Milan), the main aim is to examine the life of the pope and trace the relation between Church and culture, between Christian and academic communities.
The title of the seminar was taken from the title of the homily of Montini on January 18, 1955, when he first visited the University of Milan; every student is invited to attend. The mediators are Piero Viotto (emeritus professor of Pedagogy); priest Angelo Maffeis (professor of Theology and President of the Institute Paul VI of Brescia); Angelo Bianchi (professor of Modern History and President of Liberal Arts College). The seminar is going to be focused on Montini, his importance during the XX century, his enthusiasm in reuniting Gospel and culture and his heritage and thoughts that can help men taking advantage of academic life.
