Alarm in Nigeria because of a mysterious disease in the southwest of the country that caused tens of sudden deaths. “Many people died for a mysterious disease that appeared in Ode Irele at the beginning of the week” declared the Health Commissioner Dayo Adeyanju, and Kayode Akinmade, the spokesperson of the Local Administration of the Nigeria State of Ondo.
The news was sudden. The symptoms of the unknown disease are migraine, blackout, weight loss, sight problems and death within 24 hours. Tests until now, showed it could be a viral disease or a particular type of Ebola, explained Kayode Akinmade. The WHO confirmed 14 instances, many of them died already and researches are ongoing. Later on, the spokesperson of the WHO, Gregory Hartl, explained that the symptoms showed between April 13th and 15th.
Although Ebola did not reach Nigeria, there is now this emergency. According to Dr. Hartl, some experts of the WHO, the Nigerian Minister of Health and other partners went to Ode-Irele to study and fight this infection.
