It controlled the disembarkation of tens of boats during the last year. Police officers defeated an international criminal organization of trafficking; they arrested people throughout Sicily, in Rome and Milan. The association was led by many Africans – with headquarters in Italy – supporting illegal immigration of hundreds of African people. Among those involved there are traffickers in Libya, one of them was involved in the shipwreck causing 366 migrants to die on October 3rd, 2013.
“Investigations – said the attorney – made it possible to understand the structure of the organization and criminal dynamics of a dangerous association made by Eritreans, Ethiopians, Ivoirians, Guineans and Gahannas, who made illegal immigrations possible for hundreds of Africans, and making money out of it”.
