Mons. Antonio Mattiazzo, bishop of Padua strongly encouraged everyone to pray for persecuted Christians. Unfortunately, persecution were not only in ancient times, in the last years, something very serious is happening: percussion against Christians is becoming terribly cruel. The bishop continues stating, “Jesus’s words are coming to be. As they persecuted me, they will persecute you”.
Pope Francis condemned these acts more than once and denounced “accomplice silence”, he prayed and asked prayer for the victims. “We cannot be indifferent!” He invited every parish and dioceses to pray together on Sunday, April 19th. The day cans be prepared with a night vigil due on Friday at 9pm in the Cathedral of Padua, celebrated by the bishop himself.
He concluded his speech inviting everyone to pray the Lord “fervently and trustingly” personally and in our communities in order for the “criminal acts may cease”, and to truly defend innocent people.
