No end to surprises from Hillary Clinton: if, as a “private citizen” her lifestyle is other than lowcost, flying in private jet sto reach the universities where she delivers speeches or attends top executive bank meetings– where, her ‘efforts’ are paid a generous sum, she has now turned to adopting a different way of carrying out her campaign. Froom Sunday onwards, as the only candidate to the White house, she has turned to more spartan methods. In fact, today she has begun her tour, almost door to door in the state of Iowa-the first state where on 28th January 2016, the primaries are to start off– on board a heavily bullet-proof small brown coach which she has dubbed as “Scooby Doo”, it reminded her of the “Mystery Van” of the colourful series of the ‘70s ‘ Hanna and Barbera.’
The journey is long: 1.600km from New York, where she presently lives, up to Monticello, in Iowa. A journey which took more than 16 hours, because of the strict speed limits in force in the USA. This is all part of a carefully planned strategy decided by her super staff . The aim is to avoid any errors which had been commited in the 2008 election campaign, where she had had felt too sure against her opponents, had started off on the wrong foot – she lost both Iowa as well as New Hempshire – to end off for the worst.
But the Scooby Doo is not to be alone to watch over her, there will be other two veihicles of the Secret Service: the agents who guard the presidents, their families in addition ot those of former presidents –and who knows- the future tenants of the White house. The parodies posted on the web and Twitter have already gone viral, who can tell whether this self-irony can really be the stepping stone for a real change, or even change of the lock, to get to the White house!
