Two years after the release of ‘The Great Beauty’, the Oscar director Paolo Sorrentino releases a new film, ‘The Early Years’. In the amazing cast there are Michael Caine (two Oscars), Harvey Keitel, the Oscar winner Rachel Weisz, Paul Dano and the two-Oscar winner Jane Fonda. The film will be in theaters in May and it is a medusa Film distribution; it is co-produced by Italy, France, UK and Switzerland. Rumor has it that ‘The Early Years’ will attend the Cannes Festival, nevertheless, the news will be official on April 16th, when there will be the festival press conference in Paris.
The film is about two old friends, Fred and Mick, in theirt 80s. They meet in a hotel in the Apes. Fred is a composer and orchestra director, and is asked to go back in the scene. Mick is a film director and he is working to what he thinks is his last film. The teaser was released yesterday and it shows Michael Caine as Fred who says to his friend Mick, “You are right, I only understand music2.
Among saunas and Turkish baths, gym and massages in the wellness and fitness hotel in the Alps, the main characters think about how time passes, which is the key of this film. Sorrentino is shooting in English, for the second time after “This must be the place” in 2011, the protagonist of this clip was Sen Penn who played the role of a former successful rocker, thanks to this film, the director won 6 David of Donatello.
