Very often when the wedding-celebrations are near, many men (but many women too) start getting into a panic. It is very likely, that they realise they are not ready for the big step in life, or as in other cases, marriage may be seen as a gilded cage. There are those who cook up storie sto stop the whole mechanism of preparations on the way and the most recent episode in fact comes from the U.K. Tucker Blandford from the USA, aged 23, had met what was to become his future wife, Alex, when the young woman had been on a one year-study course in the USA.

Just before the young woman was to return home, he had proposed to her. A series of telephone calls followed, where he assured her of having organised for the marriage ceremony, the restaurant for the reception, however, the young man had not informed his family yet that he had asked Alex’s hand in marriage. But when he suddenly realised that he actually had no intention of getting married, he chose to go to extremes to inform his fiancée of his decision. Alex, in fact, received a phone call from her boyfriend’s father, who informed her that he had committed suicide, that he had long been suffering from depression and had thus chosen to take his life by curling himself under a car.

Needless to speak of the shock and despair of the young woman who immediately phoned her fiancé’s mother, soon to find herself in a more shocking situation. Not only did the mother know nothing about the wedding-plans, but took no time in assuring her that her son was well and living….At that very moment, the girl thought back on the phone call and recognised the voice to be that of her fiancé.  Tucker had come to realise that he had no wish to get married, but had no idea what to say to his fiancée, and so he decided to pretend he had died rather than facing the situation more rationally.
